The problem
A simple question about company finances should not need a new report
Company financial data usually lives in accounting software and spreadsheets. To answer a simple question, such as how costs changed over a quarter, someone has to export the data and build a report. Enkaris keeps that data in one workspace, where users ask questions directly and get answers based on their own financial data.
Decision 01
One paying customer before a wider launch
Before opening Enkaris to more companies, I ran it with its first paying customer and changed the interface based on how they actually used it. Only then did I release a stable version to a wider test group. It meant a slower start, but the product grew around real use instead of my assumptions.
Decision 02
TypeScript for the product, Python for the analysis
The interface (Next.js) and the main API (NestJS) are written in TypeScript. The financial analysis runs in a separate Python service built with FastAPI, so it can use Python's data tooling without pulling it into the product code. The cost is a second service to deploy and an API contract between the two that has to stay in sync.
